The Love You’re Looking For

by Controversial Subjects, Pro-Life

In this video, we see the love of a mother for her son, and the impact her son has on her life and the lives of many others.

This impact isn’t huge or dramatic, but hope given in hard times, or a smile offered at just the right time.

You can tell that the mother portrayed in this video would do anything for her son, even though their life circumstances are challenging.

But then, there is a plot twist at the end…

The Love You’re Looking For

I don’t know about you, but I didn’t see the end of this video coming.

I thought the looming dark figure throughout the video was maybe a personified fear the mother had of losing her son, possibly because she had lost her husband, we are left to wonder this detail until the very end.

I was partially right, it was a fear of losing her son, but by her own hand and as a result of feeling trapped and option-less. Her fear of what life would hold if she continued the pregnancy was at odds with what her gut (and conscience) was trying to tell her, she was unable to see that the love she so desired was right inside of her.

I think this video is so powerful for three reasons: it humanizes women who struggle with the decision to choose life, it puts a face and a life to the baby in her womb, and it illustrates the reality that many women who have an abortion suffer from their decision.

In a culture that often villainizes the “other”, this video reminds us that there is more than one victim when dealing with abortion and those women need to be loved and helped in their healing process.
