The Case for Christ on DVD has just been released and I’m so excited to be able to view this great film and discuss with both my small group Bible study and my family.
I had the opportunity to watch an early screening of the film when the movie was released in theaters this past April and I think the content will lead to a great discussion. The movie is based on the book, The Case for Christ: A Journalist’s Personal Investigation of the Evidence for Jesus, which tells the true story of atheist Lee Strobel as he sets out to debunk the myth of Jesus and Christianity.
This book was instrumental in my personal faith journey. I read the book at a time when I was skeptical of the claims of Christianity and it provided several answers for me that helped me to grow in faith. Though I wasn’t sure if the movie would do the book justice, I wanted to give it a chance and I’m so glad I did. The movie was just as insightful and fascinating as the book.
If you’re looking for a way to start off Holy Week, I would suggest taking your family or a group of friends to see The Case for Christ. It is inevitable that the film will spark good conversation and provide content for you to reflect on throughout the week.

1. It will answer your questions.
The movie does a phenomenal job of providing answers to questions that many people have, such as: Is it possible that Jesus didn’t really die on the cross? Why did Jesus appear to women when He rose from the dead? Why are there slight differences in the historical accounts of what happened?
2. It will prompt more questions.
The Case for Christ will also cause the viewer to start thinking more about the “why” and “how” of many of the events that happened in the life of Christ. As the movie shows, questions are good when they lead you to discover answers for yourself.
3. It will remind you to never give up hope.
Without spoiling the ending too much, this movie reminds us that we can never give up hope for our friends and loved ones. Even the most hardened heart can come to know the love and power of Christ. Do not cease praying and asking the Lord to work in the lives of those you care about.
