Online Conference: How to Hear God’s Voice? A Practical Guide to Discernment

by Faith & Life, Prayer

Knowing that we are called to follow the Will of God and being able to discern His Will is two very different things. Do you ever feel like asking God for a neon sign to guide you in your next step in life? Usually God does not send Neon “go here, do that” signs. So how do we hear God’s voice in our lives? Mostly we think about this in the large decisions in life but it first starts with hearing God in the small daily choices we make when we pay attention to the movements of the Spirit.

How to Hear God’s Voice? A Practical Guide to Discernment” Fr. Timothy Gallagher, O.M.V. is going to explain the rules and practical guidelines from St. Ignatius of Loyola. Including discernment in daily life: how the good spirit and the enemy work in those who love God and are striving to grow, What are the two basic spiritual movements? What is spiritual consolation and spiritual desolation, and how to overcome spiritual desolation.

Father Timothy M. Gallagher, O.M.V., was ordained in 1979 as a member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, a religious community dedicated to retreats and spiritual formation according to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. He obtained his doctorate in 1983 from the Gregorian University. He has taught (St. John’s Seminary, Brighton, MA; Our Lady of Grace Seminary Residence, Boston, MA), assisted in formation work for twelve years, and served two terms as provincial in his own community. He has dedicated many years to an extensive international ministry of retreats, spiritual direction, and teaching about the spiritual life. Fr. Gallagher is the author of seven books on the spiritual teaching of St. Ignatius of Loyola, a biography of Venerable Bruno Lanteri, founder of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, and a book on the Liturgy of the Hours. He is a frequent speaker on EWTN, and his digitally recorded talks are utilized internationally. He currently holds the St. Ignatius Chair for Spiritual Formation at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver.
