Here are three simple ways to implement prayer in your relationship and form a strong, intimate relationship with your spouse.
Schedule It
This may seem simple, but if you are intentional about what time you will pray every day, it is more likely to happen. This can be as simple as praying a Hail Mary together in the morning and a Glory Be as you are about to go to bed. Once you are in the habit of this practice, you can expand it to praying the Rosary together or the Liturgy of the Hours. If you are just starting our praying as a couple, it can feel awkward, so starting with a scheduled, simple prayer helps that transition!
Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina is a way of praying with scripture that will help guide you and your spouse into intentional, intimate conversation. This form of prayer will allow you to see how the Lord is working in your spouses life and where their heart is. This form of prayer can also help you make specific resolutions in prayer and help keep each other accountable to those resolutions. Pray Over One Another
Asking your spouse how you can pray for them, and sharing how you need them to pray for you is a beautiful opportunity to grow in trust and humility with one another. This is an opportunity to share petitions, but also praise for how the Lord has blessed you. As spouses, you have particularly powerful prayers for one another and hearing the one you love pray for you to the Lord is a moving and bonding experience.
