These Nuns Rock… Literally

by Consecrated Life, Evangelization, Vocation

It’s not what you would typically expect, but this unique group of nuns found a way to use their gifts to evangelize through music. When they realized that so many of them were musically talented, they decided to form their own band. And not just any band… a rock band.

A few years back, the “Siervas” (The Servants) became an internet sensation and were invited to perform when Pope Francis came to visit Mexico. The nuns are based out of Peru, but the band is made up of members from all over the world.

“People forget that nuns were normal people!” Sr. Monica reminds us in the video.

This is precisely why it is so important to share stories like this one. We often forget that a call to the religious life does not mean completely abandoning your past, your talents, or your passions. God will help you find a way to use your gifts to bring Him glory when you release yourself to Him and submit to His plans.

The Siervas: Rockstar Nuns

As of now, they only have music in Spanish, but who knows what the future may bring!

Keep up with the latest songs and concerts by following the Siervas on Facebook and Twitter !
