Did you know that each month has a traditional Catholic devotion? This year, let’s focus on each devotion month-by-month to grow in our faith and traditions! Make yourself notes, write it on your calendar, and pray a specific prayer each day of the month to remember. You could use a prayer already associated with the devotion or pray a personal one.

This month we celebrate many things:

But, most of all, we devote the entire month of June to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus has a cross, flames, crown of thorns, and blood. Each of these has special meaning so that we can remember His love for us. The cross points to His sacrifice, the flames are his purifying passion, the crown of thorns reminds us of His suffering and kingship, and the blood reminds us of the side wound during His death. He spilled all of His blood for us.

This month incorporate His Sacred Heart into your life. Draw a simple version of it on top of your school notes or grocery lists. Hang an image of it in your home. Pray the novena. You can learn about the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is on June 28. Increase your love for His Sacred Heart with these quotes.

And, especially, remember not to break His Heart. Love Him with all of yours!

In June, we also celebrate Father’s Day. Check out these great posts to share with your dad!

Reflection Questions:

  1.      In what ways is your heart impure?
  2.      What artistic representation of Jesus’ heart inspires you most?
  3.      Who in your life have you met and lives with a great devotion or imitation of Jesus’ heart?
  4.      What can you do this month to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus?
  5.      In what ways can you become closer to Christ in this very moment?

Challenge: Visit Jesus in Adoration every week, especially on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi (June 20), https://catholic-link.org/god-lets-himself-be-eaten/ ). Tell Him your deepest regrets and desires. Talk to Him like you talk to your spouse or closest friend because He is even closer to you than them. Spread His love this month to everyone you meet.
