You and I know it. We have been sent by Jesus, we have a mission and the noun that best describes what we are is: “Apostle.” The word apostle, from the Greek apostello, “to send,” “to serve,” has a very general etymological meaning. It refers to a person who has been sent, just like you and me. In a Christian sense, anyone who has received a mission from Jesus can be called an “apostle.” But it’s also a fact that such title has been reserved to those who have received it directly from Christ, and we want to learn more about them.
Much has been said about them. They are known for their heroic adventures, for their writings (some of which appear in the Bible), and for the different prayers and devotions about them around the world. But we know very little about how their lives came to an end, how they suffered, and gave their lives for love to Jesus and the Gospel.
We invite you to learn about how the Apostles gave their lives for their faith; we also invite you to discover some facts that will surely help you see them in a different light.
