Mark Wahlberg Prays God Will Forgive Him For His Past Movie Roles

by Evangelization, Faith & Life, Morals & Values

Catholic-Link has written a few posts on Mark Wahlberg and his conversion to Catholicism, but each time we share them we undoubtedly get comments about his past movie roles. The actor has starred in films that don’t align with his Catholic moral values, such as his role as a porn star in “Boogie Nights.”

“I just always hope that God is a movie fan and also forgiving because I’ve made some poor choices in my past,” Wahlberg was quoted as saying in the Chicago Tribune.

Walhberg was at a youth event with Cardinal Blase Cupich at the UIC Pavillion in Chicago when he went on to say, “I’ve never been shy about sharing my past and the bad decisions I’ve made and being affiliated with gangs, being incarcerated, so absolutely I think they can identify with me on a personal level, and that’s why I’ve continued to try to do as much as I can to help young people.

It’s one thing to give money, or to start programs, but to be there and be able to talk to them, and tell them there is someone who has been through the same things they are going through and was able to turn their life around, and turn it into a big positive. That’s always important.”

Wahlberg also shared with the youth that he goes to bed at 7:30pm each night so that he can get up early to pray.

Though we may not agree with the message of the films that one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood has been a part of, we can all agree that we serve a God of mercy and forgiveness. Let us pray that Mr.Wahlberg will be an inspiration to those who feel trapped by the past. God makes all things new!

Marital Truth Hurts — But Love Rejoices In It

We live in an age where truth has been softened into preference. “My truth” and “your truth” sound generous, almost enlightened, but beneath the language is a deeper confusion: truth has been reduced to feeling. It has become negotiable, therapeutic, and adjustable....
