Jesus In The Womb: Month 9

by December, Jesus Christ

Your Lord and Savior is Now the Size of a Watermelon!

Advent has officially begun!  The final month has finally arrived and Baby Jesus will soon be born.  The last month in the womb is spent with baby Jesus preparing for his birth.  He is inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid to practice breathing outside of the womb, turning head down in preparation for birth, and sucking His thumb to prepare for nursing.  Mary and Joseph must be anxiously awaiting the birth of their Son, longing to hold this baby that they have loved and worshipped for nine long months.  As with all new parents, they are likely slightly nervous for His birth as well, though their perfect trust in God gives them the peace that only He can offer.  This won’t be the birth of just any baby…this will be the birth of the Messiah, the Savior, the Redeemer, Emmanuel, Son of the Living God.  This birth will change everything and it is almost time.

What to expect this month:

  • A growing realization that you are not yet prepared for the enormity of the coming event.
  • A deep sense of peace when contemplating the Life within Mary’s womb and what that Life means to the world…and to you.

What to do to prepare this month for His birth:

  • Advent is a penitential time spent preparing our hearts and our homes for the birth of Baby Jesus.  As part of that preparation, spend time singing advent hymns to Him daily.  One hymn suggestion is “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”.  Find more Advent Hymns Here.
  • Begin the Saint Andrew Novena on November 30th and as you pray the prayer each time, consider deeply the words and the momentous occasion they illustrate.
