Why Is This Astonishing Saint Known As “The Spooky Saint”?

by July, Saints, Self-Knowledge

St. Christina was born in Belgium in 1150. By the time she was just three years old, both her parents had died. At the age of twenty-one, she fell ill and it was thought to be dead. However, as Mass was being said for her, her body suddenly flew to the roof of the Church. She later reported that she had been to Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory, and spend her life praying for the poor souls.  She was known to climb trees and hide in ovens, among other things to avoid contact with people, but her holiness was evident.

In this video, Fr. Steven Bell, CSP  tells the tale of Saint Christina the Astonishing, a woman that some called mad, and some called holy.
