It’s time to celebrate our Church’s birthday, the day of the Descent of the Holy Spirit (See Acts 2:1-22; 1 Corinthians 12:3-13; John 10:19-23)! We celebrate Pentecost this Sunday!
After Jesus’ Resurrection and Ascension, He did not leave us alone. He founded the Church by giving Peter (the rock, our first pope) the Keys to the Kingdom, and He revealed the Trinity to us—something we could never know about Him unless He told us Himself. He’s always with us!
What a glorious gift! How wonderful the gifts of the Holy Spirit are!
Invite Him into your heart: “Come, Holy Spirit.” Compiled below is a list of songs to thank God for His Church, ask that His presence be in our hearts, and remind us of God’s unconditional and unfailing love for us.
Something wonderful about Christian music is that it’s not just a song—it’s all prayers! Below are the links for you to listen to the songs and a section of the lyrics for you to pray this day.

We are Your Church
And we need Your power
In us
2. Heaven Came Down by David Crowder
Heaven came down and glory filled my soul
When at the cross my Savior made me whole
My sins were washed away
And my night turned to day
When heaven came down and glory filled my soul
O, what a wonderful, wonderful day
Day I will never forget
When I was wondering in darkness away
Jesus my Savior I met
3. Set a Fire by Jesus Culture
Set a fire down in my soul that
I can’t contain
And I can’t control
I want more of you God
I want more of you God.

6. The Church’s One Foundation (Hymn)
The Church’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord,
She is His new creation
By water and the Word.
From heaven He came and sought her
To be His holy bride;
With His own blood He bought her
And for her life He died.
7. Send Us Your Spirit by David Haas
Come Lord Jesus, send us your Spirit,
renew the face of the earth.
Come to us, Spirit of God,
breathe in us now. We sing together.
8. The Summons
Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown? Will you let my name be known,
will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?
9. SpiritSong by Lynn Geyer
You are the fire in my heart, center of my soul,
Light through the darkness!
Holy Spirit come; Holy Spirit come.
Guide me to Your Light, Oh Lord. Holy Spirit come.
10. Glory Be by Chris Tomlin
There’s a song that’s on my lips
From the moment that I rise
To the One who rescued me
And brought me life
Praise awaits You at the dawn
Praise awaits You in the night
With the heavens I will sing
And lift You high
Glory be to God the Father
Glory be to God the Son
Glory be to God the Spirit
All glory to the One
11. Spirit of The Living God by Audrey Assad
Blow, wind of God, with wisdom blow until our minds are free
From mists of error, clouds of doubt, which blind our eyes to Thee
Burn, winged fire, inspire our lips with flaming love and zeal
To preach to all Thy great good news, God’s glorious commonweal.
12. Holy, Holy, Holy (God With Us) by Matt Mahr
You gave up Your only Son
God with us, God with us
So that all the world would know
Our God with us
13. I Am Not Alone by Kari Jobe
I am not alone
I am not alone
You will go before me
You will never leave me
14. Let the Heavens Open by Kari Jobe
You are welcome in this place
Welcome in our hearts
Come and have Your way
God, meet us face to face
All-consuming fire
Move without restraint
Breathe on us
Spirit come
You’re our heart’s desire
We stand in the glory of the King
Knowing that You’re here
You have set us free
You’re here
