If You Desire to Grow in Holiness, Strive for These 10 Evangelical Virtues of Mary

by Mary - The Blessed Mother, Prayer

God knew that we would need examples of how to live the faith well, and He has provided us with numerous Saints to observe and learn from in order that we too may lead holy lives. Of course, the Queen of all the Saints in Heaven is our Blessed Mother Mary and she is the ultimate example of living a life of holiness.

So many of the Saints knew this and they spent their lives emulating our Mother.

“The greatest saints, those richest in grace and virtue will be the most assiduous in praying to the most Blessed Virgin, looking up to her as the perfect model to imitate and as a powerful helper to assist them.”
 – Saint Louis Marie de Montfort

Below we list only 10 of the many virtues that Our Lady exemplified in her life. Choose one or two to focus on as you work to grow in virtue. Ask for Mary’s guidance and intercession to help you.

How to Pray the Chaplet of Mary’s 10 Evangelical Virtues

The steps to praying this Chaplet begin the same as you would begin the Holy Rosary. Start with the Sign of the Cross. On each decade, pray the Our Father first, and continue with ten Hail Marys. With each Hail Mary, after you recite “Holy Mary, Mother of God,” offer one of the virtues in prayer, and then “pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.” End each decade with the Glory Be. Continue praying through each of the 10 virtues.

Continue to pray:

In Your Conception, O Virgin Mary, You were Immaculate. Pray for us to the Father whose son, Jesus, you brought forth into the world.
Let us pray.  Father, you prepared the virgin Mary to be the worthy mother of your Son. You let her share beforehand in the salvation Christ would bring by his death, and kept her sinless from the first moment of her conception. Help us by her prayers to live in your presence without sin. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen.
The Virgin Mary’s Immaculate Conception
Be our Health and our Protection.
