12 Saint Quotes to Live By

by Faith & Life, Holy Father

As we begin a new year (liturgical year that is), it is helpful to reflect on our spiritual growth.  We can use the wisdom of the saints and the guidance of our Church to direct our path. Use these quotes to guide your prayer time this year and lead you to action.

A suggestion would be to write the quotes on a calendar so that each month you will have a new quote to think about every time you look over your schedule.  This really helps to put things into perspective and remind us of our priorities and of how to focus our activities.

Another idea would be to print each image and display it somewhere in your home for people to read. The refrigerator or bathroom mirror are great spots for posting information!  The quotes could also be used to guide monthly reflection in your small group or Bible study.

Along with each quote, you will find a corporal and spiritual work of mercy that you can concentrate on for the month.  Try to think of an activity that you and your family can do to incorporate that aspect of mercy into your monthly schedule.

Be sure to subscribe to our emails and follow us on social media because we will offer several ideas and insights on how to live out these acts of mercy.

Spiritual Work of Mercy: Pray for the Living and the Dead

We hope that you will use this resource to grow in your understanding of both how to receive and show God’s gift of mercy.  In addition to these quotes, we encourage you to act by taking part in the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy.  Also, don’t forget to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily!

Finally, one last quote from the diary of St. Faustina to inspire us to act in mercy during this year.

“You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve from it. I am giving you three ways of exercising mercy toward your neighbor: the first – by deed, the second – by word, the third – by prayer. In these three degrees is contained the fullness of mercy, and it is an unquestionable proof of love for Me. By this means a soul glorifies and pays reverence to My mercy.”

Marital Truth Hurts — But Love Rejoices In It

We live in an age where truth has been softened into preference. “My truth” and “your truth” sound generous, almost enlightened, but beneath the language is a deeper confusion: truth has been reduced to feeling. It has become negotiable, therapeutic, and adjustable....
