“I knew that I didn’t ever want to live like that again.” – The Pain that Comes When You Can’t Forgive

by Faith & Life, Meaning of Suffering

Many of us undergo moments in our lives that sting. They leave us furious, hurt, shocked by the absurdity and injustice of the situation. And, often, when that occurs it makes it incredibly difficult to forgive.

Such a reaction is many times legitimate in itself, yet can transform into something much more serious and dangerous if left to fester.

Many times it is difficult to speak with someone who has undergone such events. Using logic or anything that might minimize what they are feeling or the experience they have gone through (even in cases where the person exaggerates the event) isn’t usually a good road to take. Forgiving is sometimes more like a leap of faith than a logical step in a healing process.
