The Church constantly invites its members to take an active role in the apostolic dynamic. The Holy Father, with his constant exhortations to reach out to the boundaries of society’s so as to bring the light of Christ, couldn’t be more clear. We are all called to do apostolate!

We are happy to report that Outstanding Initiatives is back on its search for Catholic initiatives and projects that aims to carry out the evangelical mission of the Church.  Today, we present to you a set of carefully curated initiatives with the hope that they generate inspiration and emulation.

50 Million Names  is a website that addresses the often taken for granted aspect of the Pro Life discourse – baby names. When someone is given a name, their existence takes on a human face. Names eliminate the term ‘spot’, ‘embryo’ and ‘fetus’, terms which the Pro Choice movement use to refer to these children. This site honors and remembers the children who never made it, who were victims of abortion. By submitting a name, a pledge of prayer for the soul of the unborn is connected along with the intentions for the healing of their families, mothers, fathers and abortionists. To participate in this cause, you may check out and register through their website at www.50millionnames.com

The Catholic Dormitory

The Catholic Dormitory is a website dedicated to “presenting the world in a Catholic scope,” that is, looking at the world through the Catholic lens. This initiative provides a platform for discussion on issues that the faithful faces today. Their evangelical strategy is presented through their YouTube channel which provides videos discussing topics of the faith and Christian life in general. They also have recently launched their new website headed by its editors, Dominic Cassella, Jacob Reilly, and Sebastian Macik. The website features helpful and interesting articles about the Gospel, the saints and the Church.

The Porn Effect is an initiative that confronts a modern-day epidemic which enslaves many people today. Porn addiction is a real problem similar to alcoholism and drug addiction. In the age of the internet, the access to profane materials has become easier and has affected a huge amount of people, including their relationships, their families and their faith. Pornography promotes a deceptive dynamic about “happiness” and isolates a person from authentic happiness. The Porn Effect reaches out to people who seeks help to free themselves from porn addiction and offers counsel and support.  This initiative seeks to radically promote chastity by confronting the factors that hinders it.

The Porn Effect is a powerhouse of experts in counselling, psychology, spiritual counselling and is also home to the world’s most powerful speaker on chastity, Jason Evert. Their website also features helpful articles about pornography addiction and healing.

Church Pop is a trendy website which features Catholic articles, videos and even interesting quizzes (yes quizzes!) about the faith which you can share with your friends and your community in the social media and beyond. The website uses the elements of pop culture as a tool for evangelization. Founded by a young writer and thinker named Brantly Millegan, who describes himself as “a 20-something who wants to follow Jesus, help others find him and his Church, and make a positive difference in the world.” this initiative is anchored on keeping up with the Catholics of this generation while remaining faithful to the canon of the Catholic faith. For your daily dose of interesting Catholic articles and humor, check out www.churchpop.com.

That wraps up the 2nd edition of Outstanding Initiatives. We highly recommend that you check them out and support these projects by helping spread the word about them. We also hope that our featured initiatives inspired you to start your own initiative and contribute to the mission of the Church. We encourage you all to keep testing your ideas and to start them now.

If you know of any group or individual projects that is all-Catholic and very promising, please feel free to blast us an email at champ@catholic-link.com  or  you may also send it to garret@catholic-link.com  so we can give them a shoutout on  the next edition of Outstanding Initiatives.
