Summertime is usually a time for resting, having fun, and perhaps a bit of traveling. At the same time, it can also be one of routine, boredom, and mediocrity. Here are 4 things to keep in mind this summer!

3 Catholic Apostolic Vidoes To Watch This Summer

1. Watching TV all day?

Haven’t anything else better to do? I beg you to please do something other than watching TV all day. I admit to doing it when I was younger and I regret it! Read a book (one of those paper things on the shelf)! Send me an email and I will send you a few suggestions.

2. Boredom and Pornography

Boredom is the experience of not having anything purposeful to do. Since I began to take my faith seriously, this experience has ceased to exist. Still, as a youth, I had it a lot. When a deeper purpose is absent, we become sensation-addicts. Many times it doesn’t matter what kind, we just need to feel and now. Many of these things aren’t necessarily negative, but this “feed me” or “satisfy me” attitude can quickly begin to demand other types of satisfaction. It isn’t for nothing that many spiritual masters have noticed the link between “soft” living and lust.

Pope Francis spoke of something similar, albeit not in direct relationship to lust or pornography, in his Evangelii Guadium:

The great danger in today’s world, pervaded as it is by consumerism, is the desolation and anguish born of a complacent yet covetous heart, the feverish pursuit of frivolous pleasures, and a blunted conscience. Whenever our interior life becomes caught up in its own interests and concerns, there is no longer room for others, no place for the poor. God’s voice is no longer heard, the quiet joy of his love is no longer felt, and the desire to do good fades. (2)

3. Headed to the beach? Going for a swim? In a bikini right?

Being a guy, I have no idea of the social or aesthetic implications of challenging the common use of a bikini. For this reason, I will let a pretty woman do the talking for me. But prepare yourself: Jessica Rey is about to challenge some widely-accepted ideas, what do you think?
