25 Names Of Jesus To Use In Prayer This Christmas

by Christmas, Jesus Christ

There is power in the name of Jesus. When we call on His name, He comes to our aid, helps us, heals us, surrounds us with His love, grace, and mercy. It is the shortest and simplest prayer we can utter, yet it provides us with more than we could ever ask for. There are many names of Jesus and learning about them is beautiful form of prayer.

Dr. Peter Kreeft has written an article titled “Jesus”: The Shortest, Simplest, and Most Powerful Prayer in the World that I highly recommend reading. Dr. Kreeft’s insight has changed the way that I pray and think about the name of Jesus.

“It is so simple that it is like the center point of a circle. It is the whole circle. It contains in itself the whole gospel. The Catechism says: “The name ‘Jesus’ contains all: God and man and the whole economy of creation and salvation” (CCC 2666). Into this name the Christian can pour all of his faith, with nothing whatsoever left over, for to be a Christian is to rest all of your faith on Christ, with nothing left over.”

There are countless names for Jesus. These names can help us to gain a better understanding of who Jesus is to us. Using them in your prayer time will allow you to connect with Jesus in a new way that will build your affection and love for Him.

Here we have a list of 25 Names of Jesus.  Take time to pray and reflect on each one. To vote for your favorite, click the small arrow next to the name.
